7.50 Breakfast Club
We operate a breakfast club Monday to Friday where a breakfast of cereal, fruit & drinks plus various activities are supplied.

8.50 Morning & 12.50pm Afternoon Registration
Staff will welcome you and your child/children. The children are then given the opportunity to choose a book from our well stocked library. This book can be taken home for you to read and enjoy with your child.

The children sit down for registration and are encouraged to help to count the register to find out how many children are at school. During registration the calendar is changed, and the weather discussed. Everything is recorded on our chart and the children take it in turns to help change the chart. Much of this time is spent talking about the shapes and sounds of letters and how to recognise each child’s name. Also during this time, the children are encouraged to talk about themselves and events going on in their lives. Their news can be written and displayed in the pre-school.

Activities
Following registration the children take part in child initiated and adult led activities which include role play, science, junk modelling, percussion band, cooking, and computer work, both inside and out. This time is devoted to playing games, floor puzzles, construction toys etc or group activities like singing nursery rhymes. When we have outside visitors, this is the time that they come in and see the children. Visitors can include the Rector, local policemen, dental nurse, music workshop and the hospital play worker.

Snack time
The children have the opportunity to sit quietly together and have a drink and something to eat. We ask all parents to bring in a donation of fruit or other healthy snack on the first day of the week that your child attends school for the children’s break time. These are then shared amongst all the children. (Special dietary needs catered for; please liaise with staff).

Outside play
We have all year round use of the CATEY garden & outdoor undercover area. We also have the use of the school playground and field for outdoor activities which also include ride on toys, bikes, ball games and other physical activities. We use this time to promote health and fitness which develops stamina and co-ordination. In bad weather, we are able to use the school hall for PE etc.
