Starting at Catey Pre-School
Your child may start Pre-School when they are two years old. We offer two introductory sessions, where these sessions are free. Your child can fully join in these sessions, but we ask you to accompany them throughout.

Government funding for up to 5 sessions (15 hours) a week is available for all children from the term after their 3rd birthday, and 2 year old funding available for qualifying children.

We provide a pick up service from Cockfield Primary School for afterschool club.

Fees are £8.50 per session where applicable.

Fees are payable to keep your child’s place, so are payable even if your child does not attend a session. If your child is not attending for any reason you know in advance, please let us know and we may be able to offer you an alternative day for that week. Payment is usually required at the beginning of each half term but alternative arrangements may be available on discussion with the Treasurer.

The telephone is in the kitchen of the pre-school and you may contact us, if necessary, on the above number, e.g.: if you are going to be late or someone else is going to collect your child at the last minute.

What your child needs to bring
Play clothes: although every precaution is taken to avoid spills and damage to clothes, we advise you to dress your child in ‘play clothes’. We provide aprons for ‘messy’ play!

Outdoor wear: Can we remind you, although unnecessarily, to bring your child with a warm coat and wellies during wet weather.

Spare clothes: You may wish to bring spare clothes in case of accidents, which can be kept on their peg. We do have our own supply of clean clothes available.

Summertime: In the Summer we ask you to ensure your child has a sun hat for outdoor play. It would also be helpful if you would use a sun block on your child before they attend the session.

Toys/comforters: Please do not feel that you have to separate your child from their special toy/comforter, they are welcome to bring it.

To save your own child’s clothes CATEY has its own range of sweatshirts, t-shirts and caps available to buy: Sunhat/cap £3.00, T-shirt £7.00, Sweatshirt TBA

Please make sure that all your child’s clothes/belongings are clearly labelled with their name.

Fruit/Healthy snacks
On the first day of each week that your child attends, we ask that, if possible, you could bring in something healthy that can be shared out at snack time, e.g.: fruit & fresh or dried, sliced carrots or cucumber, tomatoes, cheese etc.

Security
All members of staff will be wearing name badges, so you can identify them. If another responsible adult is collecting your child from a session, please inform a member of staff when you drop your child at pre-school, or confirm it in writing. A member of staff is always at the door at the beginning and end of a session. During the session, the safety chain is on the door. We have a policy on Child Protection and all our staff have received training in this area.
